Each year at Headfirst Honor Roll Camps, we have the pleasure of hosting many incredible student-athletes. We enjoy sharing in their recruiting process, and highlighting their accomplishments in college and beyond. They are student-athletes just like you – and we hope by learning about their journeys you will be inspired to pursue your own goals at the next level.
Whether competing on the diamond, leading in their communities or excelling in the classroom, the athletes below set their sights high and reach for their personal best in every endeavor. By combining their hard work and preparation with the right opportunities, they found the perfect college fit – one where they will continue to develop as students, athletes and people.
We hope their stories will inspire you to make your own mark and pursue your own unique goals through your recruiting process.
Miranda Lawson – Cornell Big Red
School: Cornell, Class of 2022
Position: SS/OF
Honor Roll Camps Attended: Mid-Atlantic 2015, Mid-Atlantic 2016, Northeast 2016
Bio: A product of John Champe High School and the Virginia Glory travel organization, Miranda heads to upstate New York this fall to join Coach Farlow’s Big Red. Miranda targeted Cornell after she visited during her sophomore year and fell in love with Ithaca and the campus.
The 5’6″ shortstop comes from a long tradition of excellence. Her great-great-great- grandfather was Cortlandt Van Rensselaer Creed – the first African-American to graduate from Yale and her grandmother was a well-known Civil Rights activist who established the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Commission of Clinton County.
As a member of the National Honor Society, avid volunteer in the community and softball standout, Miranda is well on the way to establishing her own legacy. We look forward to following her career – on and off the field – at Cornell!
Kendall Mancuso – Wesleyan Cardinals
School: Wesleyan, Class of 2022
Position: 3B
Honor Roll Camp Attended: Northeast 2016, Northeast 2017
Bio: Kendall will graduate with a 97/100 grade point average this spring, 8 varsity letters (Softball & Volleyball), 5 First-Team All-Patriot League Selections & a Player of the Year Award for Softball.
Off the field, she has continuously been recognized for her leadership as she was elected Class President, Executive Council Vice President and Youth Auxiliary President of the Francis House charity.
Fun fact: due to her propensity for knowledge and miscellaneous trivia, Kendall is lovingly referred to as Cliff Clavin (of “Cheers” fame) by friends and family members.
“Cliff” will join Coach Lane and the rest of the Wesleyan Cardinals in Middletown, CT this fall.
