Headfirst Honor Roll Camps are the longest-running, best attended and most popular academic showcase camps for baseball and softball in the country. Founded in 1996, our unique formula combines the most quality access to college coaches with insight, guidance and inspiration for the journey ahead from a team of experienced Headfirst staff who have been high-academic student athletes themselves.
Annually, we host over 2,000 student-athletes from across the United States and close to 300 college coaches. These coaches, representing the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities, will attend our camps to recruit, teach and share information about their athletic programs. We focus exclusively on high-academic showcase camps and believe the journey of the recruiting process is unique for these student-athletes. We cherish our opportunity to coach, mentor and guide these young student-athletes to find the best match for themselves and help them realize their dream of playing at the next level.
In the fall of 1996, Brendan Sullivan returned to his native DC after the first of five professional baseball seasons. His journey had taken him from the District to Stanford University and then into the San Diego Padres minor league system via the Major League Baseball draft. Brendan arrived home with a handful of one-page flyers highlighting his rookie baseball card and advertising private instruction. With a single baseball lesson that September on the fields of St. Albans School, his alma mater, Headfirst was born. His mission was simple then and remains the same today: Inspire the personal best in kids and young adults. Today, Headfirst has flourished into a national organization that creates programs that inspire children and young adults to courageously engage with the world, celebrate the challenges that come with trying hard things and meet every opportunity and every setback with persistence, patience and a positive attitude. We do this work because we believe in the simple yet profound power of play to spark inspiration and unlock potential, and we’ve built our reputation on a foundation of core values and proven results across three distinct organizations: Headfirst Honor Roll Camps, Headfirst Summer Camps, and Headfirst Professional Sports Camps. Today, 35 full-time and 700 annual seasonal team members continue to push Brendan’s vision to greater heights.
In addition to Honor Roll Camps, Headfirst is the largest and most popular provider of summer camps in the DC Metro area through our Headfirst Summer Camps division. We offer programming for children aged 3-13 at our camps in Maryland, DC and Virginia. In addition, Headfirst is the official camp partner of the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals & New York Yankees, as well as D.C. United and the Atlanta Falcons.
