With 21 years of experience running high-academic showcases, Headfirst Honor Roll Camps combines the most quality access to college coaches with guidance and insight for families pursuing baseball at a high-academic school. This means that not only does the two days at camp present opportunities and open doors to advance the recruiting process, but it also equips student-athletes with the tools to move forward with and advance their process well after camp has ended.
During the course of our two-day event, parents and athletes will hear from our dedicated staff on their experience in the high-academic recruiting process, how athletes and parents can work together during this journey and best practices to get on a school’s radar and maximize recruiting opportunities. Our goal is to provide you with the tools to not only succeed during your two days at camp with us, but to also feel more comfortable about the recruiting process moving forward.
Below are a few of the features that you can expect at Headfirst this summer to help you as you chase your dream of playing high-academic college baseball:
Throughout the camp – including the start of Day 1 – there will be several all-camp meetings led by the senior leadership of our Honor Roll Camps team. These meetings include a number of different topics to help prepare logistically – an overview of the camp schedule, introduction to the coaches in attendance, advice on how to prepare for each event at the showcase and how to strike up a conversation with a coach – and we’ll also cover areas that can help you beyond your two days with us at camp. You will hear from members of our team who pursued their baseball careers at high-academic schools but took different paths to get there. We believe that each recruiting process is unique, but we hope that our perspectives and insights on the process can help equip you for your own journey as you search for the best holistic college fit.
The recruiting process in general can be difficult, and pursuing a high-academic program makes it even more challenging by offering unique obstacles and layers. During the morning on the second day of camp, our team will hold a recruiting panel for parents to discuss some of these obstacles and best strategies to stand out to college coaches. We will provide some insight on how to develop a list of target schools, the different stages of the recruitment timeline, how players can express genuine interest to college coaches and how to maximize your exposure in front of the right group of coaches. The panel will conclude with a live Q&A to address any follow-up questions or topics specific to your individual recruiting process.
Each of our events is staffed with a dynamic, engaging team of former high-academic student-athletes – including alumni from the very schools in attendance that you’re targeting. The Headfirst team has been through the journey that you’re currently on and has the experience to provide support along the way. From tactical and logistical questions on where your student-athlete is going next at camp or what field a certain coach is on, to questions about where you should be in the recruiting timeline, you will always be able find a member of our team on-site to assist you. We will also have a staff introduction at the beginning of camp where we highlight our academic and professional backgrounds. If you hear a school that is currently on your list, feel free to ask for that individual during camp and we’re happy to discuss our experience at that college.
